Commitment to Social Justice
Lourdes Hill College is committed to social justice. This is
expressed through our work with Church agencies such as
Caritas and Catholic Mission, a variety of ministries of the
Sisters of the Good Samaritan as well as the many service
groups that operate in the College.
At Lourdes Hill College the Tradition of Bene Servire (to
serve well) is lived out through whole-of-College events
such as Project Compassion, the Vinnies Winter and
Christmas Appeals, House Ministries (with each House
supporting one of the Ministries of the Sisters) and other
initiatives such as the Outreach Program and the annual
Middle School Social Justice Project.
Junior School
Junior School students are invited to participate in two
service groups at lunchtime:
• SPARCles – Students Protecting and Restoring Creation
environmental group
• Mini Vinnies – a social justice group helping students
become compassionate leaders in their community
All Junior School students also participate in our in-class
social justice program; Shining Samaritans. This program
allows students to choose a skill of interest to develop.
They will work on a project with this skill that has an end
goal of a positive contribution to the local community.
The Middle School participates in an annual Social
Justice Project involving all students from Years 7-9. The
generosity of our students is a prime example of our faith
in action.
